CARBON LASER FACIALS

This treatment instantly tightens the pores and exfoliates the top layers of the skin. It reduces wrinkles, increases collagen and helps to lighten pigmentation in the skin. This is a great treatment for anyone who suffers with oily skin or active acne and also works well when alternated with DMK enzyme therapy.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A layer of liquid carbon is applied to the face and is left to dry for 10-15 minutes. As it dries on the skin, it soaks up excess oil, blackheads and dead skin cells. The outer dead skin cells of the epidermis will absorb the carbon paste but deeper living cells of the skin will not absorb the paste. Using a special laser tip, the carbon is vaporised by laser light along with dead cells and excess oil. This works especially well for treating blackheads.

Heat created by the laser penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin where it can help to break down pigmentation and encourage the sebaceous (oil) glands to become dormant. This slows down the production of oil in the skin and will benefit clients with oily skin types and those who suffer with all types of acne.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED TO SEE RESULTS?

A total of 3-6 sessions is recommended at 5-6 week intervals for best results. Although visible results can be seen straight after your first treatment. Top up treatments may be needed in the future to maintain these results.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?

There is no down time with this treatment. The skin will look and feel plumped up, firmer and silky soft with a healthy glow. In some cases mild redness of the skin may be seen initially after the treatment. This is a sign the treatment has worked and sufficient heat has been pushed into the epidermis. Redness should subside within a couple of hours.

 

Pigmentation will initially turn darker after the treatment and then a crusting may appear on the skin which must shed off naturally up to 10 days after the treatment. The skin will then appear more even in colour and the pigmented lesions will gradually lighten.

• UV exposure must be avoided for 30 days before and after laser treatments.

• SPF 30+ needs to be worn daily.

• Make-up should also be avoided for at least a few hours afterwards.

• Full after care will be provided at your consultation.

AM I SUITABLE FOR LASER TREATMENTS?

Your skin type, medical history and medication will be checked during your consultation to make sure you are suitable for the treatment. A patch test will also be carried out during your initial visit to ensure no adverse skin reaction will occur. Your first full treatment cannot be carried out until the patch test has been reviewed.

DOES IT HURT?

No it is completely pain free. You may feel mild warmth during the treatment.
